Frequently Asked Questions

I have a front carrier, why would I want or need a sling?

  • Front carriers are not only awkward to handle, but they can also dig into your shoulders - Slings are made to distribute your babies weight evenly for a comfortable wearing experience for you and your child.
  • Front carriers are not ideal for carrying a newborn due to the pressure it places on their spine - Slings cradle your baby while supporting their whole body, therefore taking the stress off of their spine. If you would like to read up on more infromation reagarding infant carriers and spinal stress please click here.
  • Front carriers usually only work with babies up to 25 pounds and don't allow for different carrying positions - Slings are able to carry babies from newborn up to 35 pounds and allow for multiple carrying positions.
  • Front carriers make it difficult to breastfeed while carrying your baby - Slings not only allow you to breastfeed while wearing your baby, they allow you to do so discreetly.

Are Parmeter Creations Baby Slings adjustable?

  • No, they are not adjustable.  These slings are sized to fit you and that is one reason why they are so easy and simple to use.  All you have to do is slip your sling on, put your baby in and go.  There is no having to fiddle with buckles, rings, or anything of the sort.

  • Parmeter Creations offers two different styles of Baby Slings:  The Traditional and The Designer.  Each of our slings are available from a variety of fabric in both single layer and reversible.

My baby wasn't happy when I tried using my sling.

  • Don't get discouraged and try different positions.  Some babies prefer certain holds over others.  For example one baby might prefer the Snuggle Hold, while another loves the Cradle Carry.
  • Believe in yourself and keep practicing.  Babies can sense when your not sure of yourself.  The more confident you are, the safer they feel.
  • Put your sling on and try going for a walk or fiddle around your house.  The slight rocking motion from you walking and moving around should help calm your baby. If your baby is still fussy, take him/her out, wait awhile and try again later.  Always keep trying!  Once your baby gets use to the sling you'll find it benefits you both!
